Smith Electric & Associates began operations in 1992 with four employees and currently employs 73 electricians, helpers and office personnel. Terrell K. Smith is President and part owner of the company. John M. Little is vice-president and also part owner.
The company provides commercial, residential, and light industrial electrical work. The commercial and residential service department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency call. Our work ranges from restaurants, office space, educational buildings, shopping centers, banks, new residences, water treatment facilities, retirement facilities, hospitals, doctors offices, apartment complexes, and many others. We have a bucket truck, derrick truck, trenchers, core driller, saw cutting machine, and many other pieces of equipment on hand to expedite our work
Part owner and President of Smith Electric & Associates. Born November 17, 1954, and is married with two children. Graduated from B.C. Raines High School in 1973 and received his first training in the electrical field while serving in the United States Coast Guard. Further electrical courses were taken at Southwest State Technical College and Bessemer State Technical College. He served in the apprenticeship program in Birmingham, Alabama, while working for Metro Electric Company receiving journeyman’s care in 1979. He has been employed by Brown & Root, B.E. & K., Wilson Electric and E.H. Smith & Sons Electric Company. A brief highlight of projects worked on are Ideal Cement, Chevron USA and James River Paper Company. Projects worked on in Project Supervisor position are: International Paper Company, Gulfport CB Base School, Mobile Water Works Purification Plant, Ciba Geigy Resin Plant and the Mobile Metro Jail Complex, Phases I and II. He has extensive knowledge in high voltage, intensive rigid conduit installations and instrumentation. He is factory trained in electrical/electronic interface systems for controls and instrumentation. His hobbies include deep sea fishing and boating.
Part owner and Vice-President of Smith Electric & Associates. Born September 8, 1953, and is married with two children. He attended Baldwin County High School and pre-apprentice program at Pensacola College. In the past he has worked for Barnes Electric, Braswell Electric, Baroco Electric, Quality Mechanical and E.H. Smith & Son Electric. He has had seven years of experience in construction to qualify as a superintendent and has twelve years experience as a project superintendent on the following jobs: West Brothers, K-Mart, Magnolia Nursing Home (5 story), Boardwalk Condo in Gulf Shores (10 story), Best Western in Gulf Shores, Mobile City Garage, Telephone Building in Mobile, Mobile Eye Ear Nose and Throat, Daphne High School, Foley High School, assumed Mobile Metro Jail Phase I and continued with Phase II. Since 1992 he has been the general superintendent over construction, which includes, but is not limited to the attached contract work list. He is in good health with hobbies of hunting fishing, flying small aircraft and sky diving. He is also qualified to operate several different types of heavy equipment.
